Welcome to Year 1/2
Year 1/2 teacher
I am Mrs Stirrat, the Y1/2 class teacher, working alongside our Teacher assistants Mrs Hine and Miss Smith.
A very warm welcome to the Chestnut Class page, here you will be able to find information about what is happening in the Year 1 and 2 classrooms and the learning experiences we are having. You will find key information about school events, our termly newsletter, topic web, web links and photos. Each term we will be learning through our ‘Big Question’ approach which relates our learning to a particular topic and subject area.
This term, each class has focused on celebrating our similarities and differences. Each child has worked hard to improve their 'daily mile' time whether its been rain or shine! Our main outcome was to create a mini video demonstrating why we are all unique, which you can watch here.
A big thank you to all the parents who were able to come along to our 'Wonderful Wednesday'. We had a fantastic 192 parents and family members who came along to celebrate this term's learning. We understand that it is not always easy to take time off work and reschedule other things during the school day but hope you enjoy the video.
In Year 1/2, we aim to be positive, determined, and resilient learners who love to help one another! I am very looking forward to teaching you this year and helping you build on your fantastic knowledge and skills. By trying our hardest and having support from your parents, I know we will make brilliant progress this year.
If you are a parent or carer and have any questions for me, please email the office at [email protected] who will pass on your message.
Term 3 How do we stay safe?
During term 3, we have enjoyed exploring our big question, 'How do we stay safe?' It has involved many visitors, lots of research by the children and exciting activities taking place in school. Each class made their own themed safety video. Here is our class video
