Pledging Our Support for Children in Need

Pledging Our Support for Children in Need

Today, children and school staff around the country are taking part in a range of fun activities to raise money for Children in Need. The charity works to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy, and secure childhood. They use the donations to fund their work and provide grants to organisations for projects that help disadvantaged children and young people all over the country.

Since hitting the airwaves of the BBC in 1980, Children in Need has helped raise over £950 million to help disadvantaged young people in the UK. Schools play a huge part in helping to raise money and supporting the event.

To celebrate Children in Need this year, we will welcome Pudsey and BBC Radio Oxford to Southwold School. We're excited to be having our photo taken with him and telling him all about our plans for the day. The children will be wearing their own clothes to school, and we will be offering face-painting, selling homemade jewellery, and the staff have got onboard with the Pudsey Duck Race! We love to support such a fantastic cause, and are thankful to The Charity Society for planning for events where they can raise the profile of charities such as Children in Need and raise money for those who need it.

At Southwold Primary & Nursery School, we view Children in Need as a great platform to teach our pupils how to be charitable and kind, and about the importance of helping others. Learning the significance of these values will help to develop lasting habits that will be practised in adult life.
