This week is National Coding Week, and we are very excited to be taking part and harnessing our pupil's enthusiasm for computing!
During the week, each class will be learning how to write their name in code. Our younger children will be coding the first letter of their name.
Other children will be coding their initials and the older children will be coding their first name.
To do this, we will be using the binary code of 0,1 combinations represented by 2 colours in a variety of ways e.g. 2 colours of playdough, 2 pen colours on squared paper, 2 bead colours on a pipe cleaner OR 2 diff colours of Lego. We can't wait to show you the results!
As well as this, we've also been really impressed by how many of our year 6 pupils have joined up with the Codeclub being hosted at Whitelands Academy. Getting experience of coding at such an early age is sure to give our pupils a fantastic advantage as they grow older.
As a subject that most of us won't have had at school ourselves, it's really important for teachers to learn the subject themselves as well. That's why we're really happy with the support we get as members of The White Horse Federation, who have helped our teachers so much in learning to teach the subject.
