Welcome to Miss Hunter’s Class Page. Here you will find all the information you need with links to what will be happening in Ivy class. Our class team is made up of Miss Hunter, and our teaching assistants, Mrs Sneddon, Mrs Soanes and Mrs Wills.
Please drop your children off at their classroom door (facing onto the playground) at 8.45am. It is important that they are on time as they will be participating in a Wakey Wakey session before registration. This is a wake up session designed to focus body and mind before learning. Children can be collected at home-time from the same door.
What do I need?
Please can all children have their book bag in school every day. Book bags can be placed in drawers.
Children require their PE kit in school every day; if you would like to take it home each Friday for it to be washed, please ensure it is back in school on the Monday.
Outdoor PE is on Monday and indoor PE is on Thursday. This is likely to change throughout the school year.
Please ensure that all clothing (especially jumpers and cardigans) are clearly labelled with names.
Reading in Year 3
Encouraging the children to read for pleasure is one of the best gifts we can pass on to them. Whilst they are expected to read their school books regularly at home, please also encourage them to read their own books, library books, comics and magazines.
Once they have finished their book, they may change it themselves and record the new title and author in their reading diary. The team will help with anyone who requires a bit of direction.
If any parents would like to help develop reading in Year 3, by listening to readers, please let us know.
Homework will be set and handed out on a Friday, and must be returned by the Monday of the following week. This will give the children 10 days to complete the work.
More details to follow next week!
Topics for Autumn Term
Term 1 – Potions
Term 2 – Vikings
This year we are excited about exploring and developing new topics and taking part in a range of interesting projects. Each term we will be sending home an information sheet which will outline which topic we will be covering and what kind of things we will be doing in school with the children.
A final note from Miss Hunter
I am really looking forward to meeting parents at ‘Meet the Teacher’ at 5.30pm on Wednesday 16th September. If you are unable to make this session, please see the Year 3 information on our website. I hope you find our Maple Class page informative and please remember that our doors are always open so please do not hesitate to speak to me if you have any further questions or concerns.
