Year 4

Hello and a warm welcome from Mr Matt Street

Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and have made some long lasting memories with your families.

This term our topic is ‘What makes us special?’. The children will be reading the children’s picture book, Black Dog by Levi Pinfold in Literacy and we will be using this theme across the curriculum.

This term, indoor PE will be on a Tuesday afternoon and Outdoor PE will be on a Wednesday afternoon. We will be doing PE whatever the weather so please make sure you have suitable outdoor kit e.g. Trainers, Joggers, T¬shirt and Fleece/Hoodie.

This term the children will need to complete a project about ‘What Makes Them Special?’. This could include any talents they have, beliefs they may hold or cultural differences they may have. The completed projects will be presented to the class week commencing 19th September 2016 and should last no longer than 5 minutes. The project can be presented in a number of ways which include; electronic presentation, video, poster or poem. This will give each child an opportunity to show off their creative flare to the class.

In order to ensure that each child excels this year in year 4, there is an expectation that each child learns their times tables to x12 at home, as well as the weekly competitions in class. We also expect that children read at least three times a week to an adult and every day to themselves.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning, please feel free to come and see me before or after school. I am really excited about the term ahead and can’t wait to see some amazing progress from you all!
